My Favorite Things -- Moroccan Mint Tea

I love a good Morroccan mint tea -- and this one is my favorite.  I bought it from a local vendor while at the Frankemuth Farmers Market this summer.  The tea is high quality and packaged in neat little pyramid shaped bags.  The perfect accompaniment to Sunday morning.

My Favorite Things - A Nice Hot Corn Bag

Just a quick post today -- about one of my new favorite things.  Mom made me two "Corn Bags" for Christmas and I have been enjoying them every night since then.  It is pretty self explanatory -- it is a fabric bag or pouch filled with field corn.  You can throw it in the microwave then take it to bed with you.  I have a large one that I keep on my feet, and a smaller one that I move around to where ever I feel cold.
We keep our heat around 60-63 degrees in the winter to help reduce the amount of money we spend on fuel oil.  Before Christmas, I would freeze when I got into bed.  Now I look forward to a nice warm cozy experience.  I fall asleep twice as fast too.
I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday week this past week!  This Christmas was very pleasant for me -- one of my favorites.  I had today off for the New Year holiday, but I head back to work tomorrow.
I'm not making a bunch of New Year's resolutions this year -- because it usually ends up being the same stuff anyway.  I am, however, going to make a list of (fun) things I'd like to do this year.  I am off to do that now...
May you have a prosperous and peaceful year!

My Favorite Things -- Chocolate Makes It All Okay

I just thought I would share an old photo of me and my grandma.  Just before this photo was taken, I apparently had been crying as I still had big tears in my eyes.  I'm not sure why I was crying (it was my birthday party, after all) -- but that first taste of homemade chocolate frosting made everything better.

Nowadays, I'm in love with Lindt Excellence - Touch of Sea Salt.  I ate the last square of my bar last night (I can make them last a long time) and today I am left with only the memory -- LOL.  Is it bad to feel that way about chocolate?  The flakes of sea salt in this bar are what make it so wonderful.  If you like chocolate, you absolutely must try this!

My favorite things 2

I love my South-facing windows in my kitchen and dining room.  When the sun is shining, the whole room heats up enough to make the furnace stop running for the entire day.  Especially on these nice 40 degree days we've been having.

My favorite things

There are things that inspire me, that bring joy to my soul, or that remind me of someone special.  I've decided to share some of my favorite things when they pop into my head.
Tonight I find myself craving the warmth of the sun.  It has been particularly cold and dreary here in Michigan lately.  I'm constantly cold and find myself somewhat depressed (seasonal affective disorder?). So, tonight as I was looking through photos from last summer, I remembered how nice it is to hang clean clothes on my clothes line.  Who would have thought that some rope between two poles would bring me joy.  But it does!
Clean clothes hanging on the line remind me of how grateful I am to have my own washing machine now and that I don't have to go to the laundromat.  It reminds me of the fresh air and warm sun -- and the smell of the green grass and honeysuckle.  This photo reminds me of how helpful my husband was with stringing up the new rope so I could hang the clothes.  The tea towel hanging on the line was given to me by my Grandma after she embroidered squirrels and the days of the week on seven retro towels for me.

I just cannot wait for a nice warm sunny day.  I figure two months from now and we could be getting some occasionally warm days (40-50 degrees would be amazing right now!!!).  Until then, I will just be dreaming about it.
